The name:

Kohl is a mixture of soot and other ingredients used predominantly by Middle Eastern, African and South Asian women, and to a lesser extent men, to darken the eyelids and as mascara for the eyelashes.

Kohl is also today used today as a word for pencil eyeliner. And I don’t think there is a subculture in the world that is more obsessed with eyeliner that the alternative, no? ;)

Kohl is started up and ran by Michae. I am a 21 year old female from Norway. I’ve been in the alternative scene for a couple of years, and help run the biggest forum for norwegian goths and alternatives. My guestwriter alyCe is a male, and my fiancè. He’s the admin on the earlier mentioned forum. Together we got almost a decade of experience with the alternative culture, and we e’nt tired of it yet…! ;)
