I like how simple her outfit was; that combined with the hair made her really stand out. And there was something weird with the light here, Im so sorry to you girl, that is all my fault.

The hair caught my attention first, and then the cool colorful outfit. Sweet!

These guys were somewhere near me on the camp and everytime I saw them I was blown away with out well they looked.

These 3 looked so different and each of them were so cool. Especially love the hair on the girl. But then you know me; I’m a sucker for rockabilly.

Speaking of rockabilly; awesome combo! A beautiful dress from Collectif (I have one like that actually, in another pattern) paired with a badass mohawk. Loving it.

This charming young fellow caught my eye whilst rushing to a concert, but I had to stop and take a picture. I think he got a bit suprised/maybe scared at my eagerness… Ops :(

I ADORE these two! He reminds my of my BGF (best gay friend) and she reminds me of another friend. And they looked so good no matter wich time of day I saw them. Cred!

So simple and yet so awesome. I think I might have come across a bit pushy with these two :( I get so eager sometimes.

I love the combo of scene/emo-ish hair, with quite neutral, modern outfits in all black. Cool mathing friends :)

So there’s pretty Emelie on the left and pretty Anette on the right, and their pretty friend that I haven’t met before in the middle. Emelie, Im SO sorry, there was a stupid spot on sunlight on your face that I didn’t notice then.

Grabbed hold of these two before Depeche Mode. Aren’t they just adorable? I loved the great goth-in-summer-look.

Funny story this one. I saw her in the bathroom que, and fell in love with her dress and Docs. But at that time I didn’t have my camera, so when I saw her again I dropped everything I was doing and ran over to get a shot. Notice the cool skirt on the dude too :D

Can’t wait to go back next year. Then with proper buisness cards… I actually had so much fun with this, Im thinking about doing more alt. street fashion here :)

A few years ago, in Norway we had what has described as the Nemi-wave. Those who don’t know Nemi, she is a cartooncharacter made by Lise Myhre, a gothic girl in Oslo. Check her out on in English on Metro. Suddenly, the overall age in the scene went from 30 to 18. In english the teen-goths are called baby-bats, and in Norwegian they got called fjortisgoth. Fjortis is a term used for silly teens, hehe.

When I think 2-3-4 years back in the gothic scene, this is what I think of: Black and white striped stockings, tutus, dresses with lace and ribbons and poofy pretty skirts, bondagepants, shirts with lace and ribbons, elegance, black roses, red wine, poetry, candlelight… The “real” romantic and elegant gothic, men and women with loooong, silky, black hair, black eyeliner painted with pretty swirly things, New Rock shoes for the men, elegant high stilletos and high heeled boots for the ladies. Chokers, white skin, long opera gloves… Where did it go? Why did people stop thinking it was cool to hang out in graveyards and old churches?

Where did the people who loved elves and fantasy, who played roleplaying games in candlelight drinking red wine on a saturday night go? The cute geeks who quoted Anne Rice Lord of the Rings and called themselves Arwen and Lothlorien in chatrooms and forums? When did Eden Prosper stop being the ultimate gothic ideal? When did razorcandi take her place?

Even the cybergoths have disappeared here in Norway. When did you last see someone dressed in bright fluorecent colors and plastic?

Most goths now are dressed in a way that is a mix between deathrock, punk, industrial and with some cyber thrown in there. Layers of fishnet and stocking, skinny jeans on both sexes, corsets and pvc-skirts… The hair is back-combed, the DIY-attitude is big, the shoes are chunky platforms in PVC and leather. I really love that style too, I do, but where did the “real” gothic style go? Where are the elegant men and women dresses in mourning attire? The baby-bats have been replaced with emo’s and scenekids, who is so cute, but simply just not the same as a little 15-year old running around with a New Rocks, a Nightwish-tee and black and white stockings.

What Im really curious about, is if this is a Norwegian phenomena? Is there any brits or americans out there who can tell me if it’s like this in your countries too?

DEM BONES

A very cute summer look, the clothes are in soft, light cotton perfect for hot summers, and layering when winter comes to knock again. The collection consists of the dress shown (TOTALLY RAD SUN (NOT) DRESS), a camitop, a skirt, a girly hoodie, leggings and a mens sleeveless top.

DESENSITIZED

Back to the future! This rad collection is sexy, futuristic and not something for the shy… Skin-tight and hot. It consist of a hook and eye front top, a sexy garter belt shown in the picture, a skimpy miniskirt, a skintight halter dress, a cropped jacket, skinny pants, and a mens sleeveless top. My favourite collection by far, the details in these items are simply amazing.

OPERATION: REPLICANT SCANNING

This is a more casual collection, with a hoodie for each sex, a female tank top, female t-shirt, and the awesome miniskirt shown in the picture. Yes, the leg warmes are included with the skirt! Parts of this collection is already sold out, so be quick if you want anything!

SYNTHETIC MACHINE

Totally cyber, and TOTALLY awesome. Black Vinyl and pink, green or black fishnet. Tank top, miniskirt, sexy dress and hoodie for the ladies, and a tank top for the guys. Is it just me who thinks Lip Service should make more things for guys…? Another collection that is starting to sell out, so start buying!

PERFUME AND LACE

Here comes the gothic! Lace and velvet and ribbons and black and red, you don’t get more true than this… Nothing for the guys this time! A “corset” (read: waist cincher), a cami top, a cap sleeve top, a mini skirt and a lovely dress. I must say, I personally think this is the least impressive collection. I feel like I have seen it all before, and better done, by Lip Service themselves. But pretty things nevertheless!

I haven’t been able to find much information about the designer behind these amazing gowns. I have figured out that she is based in the United States, and that is it really. You have to love a mystery! One thing I do know though, is that her dresses are absolutley stunning and original.

The details and amount of fabric and quality in these dresses are simply amazing! One day, I WILL get one!

It all starts with the big couture-houses and their autumn collections (wich is normally released in the middle of january the same year, btw. The fashion industry is funny that way). Normally, when the collection are released, that says what is gonne be in fashion aprox. six months later. Then the circus begins. The runway-shows are dissected and analyzed and the trend is based on that. What ends up in the retailstores are based on the runwayshows. So, in other words, normal trends are inspired by the high fashion.

When it comes to fashion goth though, things are different. Fashion goth is inspired by normal goth fashion and the whole culture. That is quite unique, really. Designers are known for taking inspiration from former fashion (this year, it’s all about the seventies and hippie-boheme-fashion and stuff), but fashion goth is inspired by a style an subculture that is ongoing. Wich makes goth fashion, what the subculture wears, into the only thing that can be called goth style. Some good words to call the fashion goth is haute goth or fashion gothic. For the designers are inspired by gothic, not goth. See the difference? I highly doubt that Rick Owens are inspired by the average Hot Topic-gal when making his collections. It’s the whole gothic scene. For the “streetstyle”, I find two good phrases to use is simply gothic fashion or goth style. When you compare the words, you will see and understand the difference.

Punk and rock are also typical victims of this.

It’s easy to see the inspiration. And I can even image all the outfits with some simple changes on a typical goth, metalhead or punk.

Personally, I roll my eyes a little bit at all the blonde girls walk around with bags with “spikes” on, tutu-ish skirts and loads of black and lace and leather. But I know it’s just another trend for them. If it means that maybe a 15-year old dares to continue to wear spikes and black, then I think it’s quite ok really. Plus it means a cheap way to add to your wardrobe, so just embrace it, and continue to educate people to what a corset REALLY is! (first of all, you don’t buy them at H&M…)
