I was sitting discussing the gothic scene in Norway with my fiancè yesterday. And we both wondered about how the fashion has changed, at least here in Norway. Where did the baby bats go? Where did the velvet goths disappear to? Some random thoughts about how things have changed, and why.

Recently I overread (in other words, I saw a discussion on a forum) about if it’s okey to call the fashion-worlds goth-inspired look for actual goth fashion. This theme interessted me quite a bit. You all know the drill, every year, when it gets closer to autumn, then goth/rock/punk is sooo fashionable. There are spikes for sale on H&M, the “normal” girls wear fishnets and loads of black eyemakeup. And all the goths complain about it, whilst secretly stocking up on spikes and fishnets and black nailpolish. But really, what is the difference between fashion gothic, and gothic fashion? And how is fashion gothic different from the other designercollections?

I love this site Blackwaterfall, I think they have the greatest listing of goth steretypes ever. And the great thing is that they are good, serious, funny and they are correct!
Me personally, Im a mix of the gothabilly, cabaret goth, and something undefined. You see, my personaly style is drastically different during the winter and summer :P
What stereotype goth are you?

Demonia, together with Pleaser, are the biggest company that focuses on gothic and alternative shoes (unless I am much mistaken). They have everything a little alternative girl needs when it comes to shoes.

Now, when I think of gothic clothing, these are the first brands that spring to mind: Lip Service and Heavy Red. So I figured I’d take a look at what they got in right now and pick out some personal favourites… These are the two brands that every little wannabealternative should know about. Their quality is great, and their designs original.
